Childish Gambino - Telegraph Ave and because the internet (Album Trailer)

I must admit I haven't paid much attention to this kid as it seems I'm the only guy in the league who doesn't watch Community (I'm a Mad Men, Californication, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia kind of guy). However, something about the roll out for Childish Gambino's second studio album, because the internet, has me intrigued. Maybe it's the red-eyed .gif cover or the Beck-created title, but something seems different this time around. Who am I kidding? It's probably because I can take him seriously now after he ditched those stupid "punch me in the face" readers everyone seems to be wearing. Another example of when you are so goddamn hip...that it actually hurts.

The music is on point though, and that's all that matters. The album arrives December 10th and will feature appearances from Chance the Rapper, Jhene Aiko and Azealia Banks.

Justin Timberlake feat. J. Cole, A$AP Rocky & Pusha T - TKO (Black Friday Remix)

For all of those early morning, Black Friday shoppers, you can rest easy knowing that JT feels your pain. And the President of Pop has the medicine for what ails ya as he releases the surprise remix to his latest single, TKO, featuring the likes of Jermaine Cole, Lord Pretty Flacko and King Push.

Cole delivers the best verse in my opinion and willingly responds to the played-out Control controversy in King-like fashion. Borrowing the flow from Drake's, Versace verse and simultaneously reminding us all that he indeed got a "record deal and college degree, bitch," J.Cole sounds as confident as ever. I would really like to see him just kill the feature game in 2014 as he clearly has the skill-set. Sidebar: all this made me want to hear is Drake's response to Kendrick. I mean he has to respond, no? All I want for Christmas is Trophies...

Mikky Ekko - Kids (The Chainsmokers Remix)

Recently another great submission made its way into the Straight Goods inbox (info@straightgoodsmedia.com) from the Chainsmokers, who were able to break through the noise of the many promoters/artists we hear from, with some clever, clever writing from their flight from Seattle to NYC (excerpt below)...

"We could go on but the guy in front just leaned back and now i am forced to type with dinosaur arms and can literally feel the carpaltunnel syndrome taking affect..."

Alex and Drew from the Chainsmokers were kind enough to explain their approach to Mikky Ekko's Kids, which is a great track as an original, but i like what they did here. Hope you enjoy.

"So, Mikky is an absurdly talented writer and vocalist, so when we had the chance to work on a track of his we were delighted because we feel he is this perfect blend of pop/mainstream and indie which is two qualities we hold more dear to us than anything.  Between his really unique voice and its styling which is something we care a lot about and and our style of producing we though we could create a really interesting remix that embodies our tastes... When we started producing the song we gravitated towards the more progressive sound, flush with big synths but wanted to pair it with a sweeping horn over the drop to give it this really grand almost orchestra feeling that gave it a unique feeling, almost cinematic in nature. In doing so it allowed us to maintain a high energy remix but maintain a unique undertone. In the end his rhythmic vocals along with the piano chords allows the tracks to cruise along effortlessly.”

They also signed off as "Kendell Jenners future boyfriends..."

It's always nice to see that the art of quality writing still has it's rewards.
